That begs the question. Why lie? Monogomy is the standard I am sure, but poly "relationships" also exist. As far as manipulation goes if he told her upfront that there were others instead of that he loves only her it would have been more effective in my opinion. The point of breaking someone should be not just to take advantage, but to build an unwavering loyalty. Ignore her for a bit until she comes to you, then come clean, make her either choose to let you go, or to accept there are others. Just my opinion on the matter
