Breath of Fire is a role-playing video game series developed by the Japanese company Capcom. It originated on the Super NES in 1993 as Capcom's first foray into the role-playing genre. The series is notable for its recurring characters. While the male and female leads are different characters in each game, they are always respectively named Ryu and Nina and share certain key traits across titles. Ryu is a youthful, blue haired swordsman and typically portrayed as a member of the Dragon Clan, a powerful race descended from extra-dimensional entities revered as gods.
