as far as I could find Merkoning is from Thailand, which we do not consider to be a Western country. Don't know Kid, couldn't find quick confirmation on his nationality through google either.
In theory there we can make exceptions for artists with "Asian enough" artstyles, often the case with galleries that only end up reclassed on EH after being uploaded here, there is no official guideline for how that is supposed to be objectively defined (which is literally the sole reason EH does it based on artist nationality instead of artstyle in the first place) and I'm a lot less eager than Shirou to make new exceptions on such a subjective matter, if I do it would likely be something that only turned out to be technically Western after ending up on my uploading to-do list. (think there's like 2 of those that I might or might not have uploaded already)
I wonder PuruGlovelove, are there any other exceptions besides him/her here, Kid / Kid and Merkonig / Merkonig as far as Western artists are concerned?
Merkonig can certainly be considered an exception, as he has his work translated into Japanese, but he is actually a Western illustrator as well.
