Kid is French or seems to come from a French-speaking country. But he hasn't done anything for more than half a year or, as he writes, he hasn't produced anything that can be shown.
And with Merkonig I didn't think he was Thai, after my brief research I didn't see that he also offers his works in Thai. Which is why I assumed that he is a western artist.
As for the artists, apart from the two exceptions I won't look for anything in that direction.
But I am basically open to other works as well.
Mainly I have works of Japanese origin at home, rather than from other countries.
Not that these are necessarily worse, but they appeal to me less.
Irodori not FAKKU
the difference is very relevant because FAKKU will likely sue us if we dare upload their original translations (though Shirou has made some risky exceptions for series he liked), Irodori on the other hand doesn't seem to know we exist.
2: due to the status quo being there since the site was started, there is a absolutely enormous backlog of content that would suddenly become uploadable if the rules were changed, so if people actually gave enough shits to upload, Western and/or 3d would completely drown out the Asian stuff for a while, pushing the above issue to its extreme.
As much as I'd like to host a broader range of content I'm absolutely not going to get involved in all the fucking drama that would come from it.
Personally speaking I don't give a shit if content is Asian, Western, 3d or perhaps even AI (assuming some quality control is in place, which is a foreign concept to 99% of AI "artists") but I'm maintaining for status quo of only allowing Asian stuff with sporadic arbitrary exceptions for 2/3 reasons:
1: the status quo is there for a reason, in my experience it is rare for people on doujinshi sites to be this openminded about Western or 3d, most of them are offended by the mere idea of having to use those category filters more.
1.5: non-Asian2d content would compete with these other types of content for space on the front page and attention from taggers/uploaders so I'd be lying if I told people diversity wouldn't negatively affect them anyway.

as far as I could find Merkoning is from Thailand, which we do not consider to be a Western country. Don't know Kid, couldn't find quick confirmation on his nationality through google either.
In theory there we can make exceptions for artists with "Asian enough" artstyles, often the case with galleries that only end up reclassed on EH after being uploaded here, there is no official guideline for how that is supposed to be objectively defined (which is literally the sole reason EH does it based on artist nationality instead of artstyle in the first place) and I'm a lot less eager than Shirou to make new exceptions on such a subjective matter, if I do it would likely be something that only turned out to be technically Western after ending up on my uploading to-do list. (think there's like 2 of those that I might or might not have uploaded already)
